"In my fathers house there are many rooms" - In this bible scripture God refers to the "House of God" which consists of many chambers. As I look back at the text and look at Rev Robert X as a character, he has been shown as someone who once (and somewhat now) lived a double life with many houses and many doors, as he fooled around with other women and has many children with different women. "I am going to prepare a place for you" - When Robert read this scripture, which means God had a special place for his believers, he was reading it for himself to his son - As the story progresses you see that Rev. Phillip wants Robert X to have a significant place in his life, even as he states when he faints on the ground "Please let me up. I have to get up. Don't let me deny him again" (41) - showing he wanted to let Robert into his "chambers" and "prepare a place" for him.
This bible passage relates to the story because Reverend Martin is the father of Robert X and plays a fatherly role being a Reverend.
