Summary

In the novel, "In My Father's House", by Ernest J.Gaines, the protagonists, Reverend Martin discovers that a man named Robert X has been walking by his house everyday and occasionally even sitting outside starring in. Robert X is fresh out of prison and is in St. Adrienne waiting for his black conference to come about. In the meantime a man named Elijah invites Robert X to Reverend Martins house for a party where Reverend Martin remembers that Robert X is his son. Reverend Martin faints unconsciously once he starts to wonder why Robert X is starring at him with the face of hatred. Reverend Martin stays in bed for a couple of days and continues to think, "Who is he?, Why was he there?" Elijah is sent to ask his friends and Robert X to come over and have wine with Reverend Martin.
